Throughout its 100+ year history, the Olivet congregation has been deeply committed to preaching and teaching the Word of God, and living out their faith in service to our community and beyond. From inner city and prison ministries to international missions, our small congregation of about 100 members believes we are called to impact our world for Christ and walks that belief out on many fronts. We are committed to fulfilling our mission of ‘making disciples who make disciples’ in all the places we live, especially our immediate neighborhood. We make worship a priority and stay connected with one another by way of a variety of small groups that gather throughout the week. Our ministries range from children, to students, to adults, to senior friends and are led by teams from the congregation. We share a facility on the near east side of Evansville with another like-minded congregation which enables us to focus our attention and resources on mission and ministries rather than property upkeep.
Position Description:
The congregation of Olivet Community Church is seeking an Associate Pastor who is equipped and motivated to help lead us into a future where we can impact our local community with the Gospel. As our Senior Pastor prepares for retirement over the next 1-2 years, we are praying for an Associate Pastor who will join our church family during this season of our journey in anticipation of transitioning into the primary leadership role as Senior Pastor/head of staff in the future.
The Associate Pastor will provide leadership to advance Olivet’s mission of ‘making disciples who make disciples’. The position will have responsibility for key adult ministry programs including discipleship training, adult classes and small groups, and the Deacon ministry. The Associate Pastor will work closely with the Senior Pastor to help plan worship services, develop sermon series, and preach periodically. This individual will also be involved in governance and leadership development activities (e.g. Session meetings; staff training).
